What to Read: Book Club Suggestions

It is hard to decide what books to read as a group for a book club. I know first hand because I have been part of an ongoing book club for many years in Dallas. While themes and authors tend to direct our book club picks, I also like to browse through book club recommendations on the web. Oprah set the gold standard for hosting a book club, but you might want to go local with many of the informal gatherings that are popping up all around Dallas. As summer sets in most of us would rather weather the heat by reading a good book in the comfort of air conditioning or poolside!

Check out Oprah's current book club pick and browse past suggestions by visiting:

If you are looking for other literary book club selections for this summer why not try some of the selections recommended by NPR? This nifty website categorizes your reading choices into fiction books, nonfiction books, book to read for simple pleasure, and the ever popular mystery books list. Browse, stay awhile, and leave with a good book at:

No matter what book you choose to read this summer be sure to keep us posted!

Welcome

Welcome to thursday books. This group exists as an information and discussion forum for books. Selected topics may include themes, textual criticism, and personal insight into books of scripture, works of fiction, and occasionally nonfiction.

A collective blog for readers in Dallas, thursday books is a haven for bibliophiles and thinkers who relish in slowly reading and thinking through books of all genres.
